Job Promotion - 4 Point Short Course to Get the Job You Want and Deserve
July 2nd, 2009 by bubblesThere will be many times throughout your career when you can actually persuade the powers to be to give you the job of your dreams.
However they may need a little nudging and prodding to move in the direction you need them to go. In this article I’m going to share with you a simple 4 point formula in a short course that will help you actually move in your direction with ease.
Step 1 - Begin by using the simple technique of Curiosity, ask the 5 W’s and 1 H questions (who, what, why, when, and how).
Begin by trying doing some information gathering. Who would they likely give the next promotion to? What do they see as being the best thing you can do? When do they see this happening? Etc.
Step 2 - Secondly prepare to Turnaround the concerns they have about you moving into your coveted job of choice. Collect stories that demonstrate your value to the company and use them to sell yourself. If they believe that you’re not ready because you don’t have enough experience, share a story that demonstrates your experience. NEVER - defend yourself, just share a story instead, it’s also easier to do.
Step 3 - Next move towards Comparing yourself and your accomplishments to others. For example if your Manager holds risk takers in high esteem share a story that demonstrates your willingness and experience to take risks.
Step 4 - Lastly collect Testimonials from others who feel you could and are capable of moving into the job your after. Set out to collect dozens and dozens of them you want to have an overwhelming evidence that supports your capability.
Feel free to use these 4 steps to help you persuade others and get the job you want and deserve.
